Mission Statement
The purpose of the Colfax Township Fire Department is to provide a quality level of fire protection at a reasonable cost to citizens, workers, and visitors, protecting them from loss of life and property from fire and other natural and man-made disasters as efficiently, and effectively as possible, through fire prevention, public education, and fire suppression activities.
Our Department
Colfax Township Fire Department is located in rural Mecosta County, Michigan, and was established in 1982 by a group of dedicated volunteers seeking to improve their Township, and that spirit continues today. Colfax Township Fire Department provides fire protection for the residents of Colfax Township and Grant Township, covering approximately 70 square miles.
Our Team
Colfax Township Fire Department currently has 15 members, including Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain, Captain/Training Officer. Our firefighters complete many hours of initial fire training, and attend monthly training meetings.
Burn Permits
Burn permits are no longer issued by the Township. If you wish to burn you must contact the DNR at 866-922-2876 or obtain a permit online at: www.michigan.gov/burnpermit. They will inform you if burning is allowed on that day.
